How we count the miles
For a tow, the per-mile charge covers the miles your vehicle rides on the truck, from where we pick it up to where you want it dropped off. For a jump start, lockout, tire change or winch-out, the per-mile charge covers the drive to reach you. The calculator fills in the miles from the center of each town you pick and adds a little for real roads, so treat it as a close estimate. If you know the exact miles from a map app, type them in.
When to call for a quote instead
- Motorcycles, multi-vehicle loads on our car-hauling trailer and equipment hauls
- Fuel delivery
- Trips over 100 miles, where dispatch confirms one price for the whole trip (see long-distance towing)
- A car that’s stuck and needs a tow, or a job with unusual access

How much does a tow truck charge per mile?
PS Towing & Recovery charges $120 to hook up plus $8 a mile, counted from pickup to drop-off. A 10-mile weekday tow comes to $200.
Do you charge more on Sundays?
Yes. Sunday tows are $75 extra. Other days of the week, nights included, use the standard rate.
Why is there an extra charge for exotic cars?
Exotics and supercars take more time and care to load: low ride height, splitters and expensive wheels. The exotic fee is $100 on top of the tow rate.
How much is a jump start, lockout or tire change?
A jump start is $65, a lockout $75 and a tire change $100, each plus $3 a mile for the drive to you.
Is the calculator price final?
It’s an estimate based on our posted rates. Dispatch confirms the total before the truck heads out, based on the actual miles and your situation.
