Estimate Your PriceWhy a flatbed
- Nothing turns on the road. No wear on the transmission, tires or drivetrain, however far the trip.
- Right for all-wheel drive and 4x4. Lifting one end of an AWD car and rolling the other can damage its center differential or transfer case. See can you tow an AWD car.
- Right for electric cars and hybrids, whose drive wheels shouldn't spin while being towed. See how to tow an electric car.
- No scraped bumpers. Lowered cars, exotics and anything with a front splitter load at a gentle angle.
- Damaged cars travel safely, even with a broken wheel or locked brake.
Our trucks
We run two flatbed tow trucks, a Freightliner M2 106 and Ram 5500, plus a car-hauling trailer for moving more than one vehicle in a trip. We tow vehicles up to heavy-duty pickups like a Ford F-350 and cargo vans like a Ram ProMaster. We don't tow semis, box trucks or other heavy-duty vehicles.
Straps over the tires, not hooks on the frame
Every vehicle is secured with straps over the tires instead of chains or hooks on the frame or suspension. It's the same method we use for the Lamborghinis we move for our exotic-car customers, and it's how your daily driver gets loaded too.
What we move on the flatbed
- Cars, SUVs, pickups and cargo vans
- All-wheel drive, 4x4, hybrids and electric vehicles
- Lowered, modified and exotic cars
- Classics and project cars that don't run
- Motorcycles, upright with the front wheel braced
- Cars damaged in an accident (see accident towing)
Flatbed vs wheel-lift
A wheel-lift truck raises one end of the car and lets the other two wheels roll. It's quick, and fine for a short tow of a two-wheel-drive car lifted by its drive wheels. But many drivers don't know which wheels drive their car, and the wrong choice can be expensive. A flatbed works for every vehicle. Read flatbed vs wheel-lift towing for the full comparison.
What a flatbed tow costs
One posted rate for every tow: $120 to hook up plus $8 a mile from pickup to drop-off. Sundays are $75 extra and exotic cars $100 extra. Nights cost the same as days. Try the towing cost calculator for your trip.
